Short version for a couch: PEAK needs one screen, one device and one copy per climber. The rest of this page is about what that costs, how to get a mixed group into one lobby, and which fixes Team PEAK has already shipped for joining problems.
Two people in one room: what actually works
No version of PEAK puts two players on one TV. Two people in the same room climb together the same way two people in different cities do: each on their own console or PC, each with their own copy, joined online in one lobby of up to four scouts.
Since 22 October 2026 those devices no longer have to match. Team PEAK's console-launch post says Steam players can now climb with friends on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2. So a household with a PS5 and a gaming laptop can play together; a household with one PS5 cannot.
| Platform | Copy | Online needs | Lobby |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 | $9.99 | PS Plus | Up to 4 |
| Xbox Series X|S | $9.99 | Game Pass | Up to 4 |
| Switch 2 | $9.99 | Switch Online | Up to 4 |
| PC (Steam) | $7.99 | None | Up to 4 |
The PS5 listing prints "PS Plus required for online play". Xbox states that online console multiplayer requires Game Pass. The eShop lists Nintendo Switch Online for online play. Steam has no subscription.

Getting a mixed group into one lobby
Crossplay runs on room codes, which Team PEAK added in patch 2.04.a ahead of the console versions. The steps below are taken from that patch note and the 22 October launch post.
- The host starts a run. The pause menu shows a room code that can be copied and sent to the others.
- Each friend picks JOIN GAME on the main menu and types the code.
- On Steam, the older invite route keeps working next to the codes; the code is what lets a console player in.
- The lobby stops at four scouts in total, in any mix of platforms.

What you give up compared with a couch game
Multiplayer is friends-only. The Steam and Xbox store text both say you invite up to three other scouts, and no store lists public matchmaking. A player whose friends do not own PEAK climbs alone.
Offline means solo. Landfall's own page lists "Online co-op and offline single player"; there is no offline mode for two.
Progress stays where it was earned. Team PEAK's crossplay FAQ says there is no save transfer between Steam and the consoles; badges have to be earned again on the new platform.
There is no PS4, Xbox One or original Switch version. The PlayStation Blog launch post names PS5 only, the Xbox catalog marks the console build for Xbox Series X|S, and the eShop sells a Switch 2 edition only.
Steam does not list Remote Play Together for PEAK, so the Steam feature that streams one copy to a second player is not offered for this game.

Split screen on PC through mods
People asking about PEAK split screen on PC usually end up at fan-made tools: a LocalMultiplayer mod listed on Thunderstore, and Nucleus Co-op, a program that runs several copies of a game on one PC. Neither comes from Landfall or Aggro Crab, and we have not tested either one.
Team PEAK's only statement on mods was written for crossplay: client-side mods may work but are not guaranteed, and bugs should be reproduced without mods before they are reported. A modded PC is therefore a poor fit for a lobby that includes console players.

Joining problems Team PEAK has already fixed
If a friend cannot get into your run, check that both of you are on the current version first. These are the joining and reconnect bugs named in Team PEAK's patch notes since September 2026.
| Problem | Fixed in |
|---|---|
| Room codes did not work for games in another region | 3.0.1, 23 Oct 2026 |
| Players connecting to a game in a different part of the world stuck on the Loading screen | 2.5.a, 28 Sep 2026 |
| Reconnecting players came back dead when they should have been alive | 2.5.a, 28 Sep 2026 |
| Players rejoining after Continuing from a save spawned dead | 2.6.a, 2 Oct 2026 |
| Joining a room that does not exist froze on a loading screen | 2.4.c, 14 Sep 2026 |
For anything newer, Team PEAK asks for reports by email to support@landfall.se, on the official PEAK Discord, or in the Steam forums. Its 22 October post also warned that launch week could bring connection issues while console players arrived.

Want the same group on one screen instead?
Each of these lists split screen on a store or publisher page we read on 1 Nov 2026.

-
Borderlands 4Yes
For two who want a shooter: "2-player splitscreen" on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Steam version has no split screen, so this one is console only.
Questions people search for
Is PEAK split screen on PS5?
No. On PS5 the store's player field reads "1 players", and the only group play it mentions is online, four at most, behind PS Plus. Two people on one PS5 cannot climb together; the second needs another console or a PC, with their own copy.
Does PEAK have couch co-op or local co-op?
No, on any platform. Every store we read lists one player per device, and Landfall describes the offline mode as single player. Playing in the same room still means two devices in one online lobby.
Is PEAK split screen on Xbox?
No. Microsoft's catalog gives PEAK an online co-op range of 2 to 4 and nothing for play on one console, not even the loose Shared/split screen label. It runs on Xbox Series X|S only, not Xbox One.
Is PEAK 2 player split screen?
No. Two players means two copies on two devices. A second copy is $9.99 on PS5, Xbox and Switch 2, or $7.99 on Steam (regular prices on 1 Nov 2026), and crossplay lets the pair use different platforms.
Is PEAK split screen on PC?
Not officially. Steam lists Online Co-op with no Shared/Split Screen and no Remote Play Together. Fan-made tools exist; see the PC section.
