How we check
This is a new site. Every answer here was checked by hand on official store pages, and each platform row shows the date we read it.
- 1
Read the store page for each platform
We open the PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop (US), Xbox Store and Steam pages for the game and note the local player count, online player count and any mention of split screen or couch co-op.
- 2
Check the maker's own page
If a store page is vague, we read the developer or publisher page. We only say split screen when a store or official page says it or shows it.
- 3
Mark what we could not confirm
If a platform could not be read, it says "not confirmed yet" on the page instead of a guess. Data we have not re-read yet is shown as "to be checked".
- 4
Write the short answer last
The yes or no at the top is written from the platform rows, not the other way round.
Sources, in order
- PlayStation Store. Lists the number of local players and online players for PS5 and PS4.
- Nintendo eShop (US). Separates single system, local wireless and online player counts.
- Xbox Store. Lists local co-op, online co-op and a "Shared/split screen" label as separate features. That label covers both one shared screen and a split one, so on its own we show it as couch co-op, not split screen.
- Steam. Lists Shared/Split Screen and Remote Play Together for PC. Same rule as Xbox: the category alone does not tell a split screen from a shared one.
- Developer and publisher pages. Used when a store page leaves the screen setup unclear.
Re-checks
We re-read a game's pages when a new platform version launches or a big update lands, and at least every 90 days for every game on the site.
Corrections
When a re-check finds that a store page changed, we fix that platform row and give it the new date. Every row shows the day we last read it.
